Reviews of my plays

“Teen Arts Council Production a Smash Hit. The play was perfectly suited for a dinner-theatre setting. John Andreini’s Hell to Pay [is] a slick, witty variation on the Faust theme.”
Townonline, Westford, Massachusetts

“John Andreini’s Eternal Life is slick and amusing. …Eternal Life is a lot of fun.”
The Pantagraph, Bloomington, Illinois

“The fourth play was John P. Andreini’s Scenes of Love and Madness. Guilmette’s performance is completely luring and devilishly creepy. He invites us into his den where no one can quite figure out whether he is simply brilliant yet childish; humorous and shy; or if he secretly murdered his parents we are all just thoughts from the ink in his pen.

In keeping with his tradition of bringing his audience provocative theater with sterling performances, director, producer and actor Guilmette was able to capture the underbelly of American life completely dusted of preen. This was right on theater.”
Pacifica Tribune, San Mateo, California

“John Andreini’s dark Faustian comedy [Hell to Pay] is equal parts sitcom silliness and cool, witty satire….”
Kitsap.com, Silverdale, Washington

“To kick off our 25th season, SCT will be running with the devil with Hell to Pay. This dark and hilarious comedy, directed by Kevin Kimsey, was written by John Andrieni. It would be a sin to miss it.”

Synopsis:

San Francisco prosecutor and Iraq war hero Chuck Desmond is the smartest lawyer in the room, and a promising potential candidate for governor of California. He’s also a serial killer. The Bay Area Butcher has been terrorizing the region for several years, but the police are no closer to an arrest now than when the murders first began. Chuck is a clever and highly ambitious man. Courted by California’s political elite to run for governor, Chuck sets into motion a highly complex plan to acquire the necessary wealth to run by driving his wife Lucy to suicide, and at the same time frame a hapless criminal for the Bay Area Butcher murders, enhancing his political credentials by winning a high-profile case. Even as his political star rises, and his plan unfolds, Chuck cannot stop the urge to kill. One of the state’s kingmakers (who is also Chuck’s boss) discovers his nasty little secret, and must decide where her allegiances lie — with the law or with her political party, and the possibility of having the governor of the eighth largest economy in the world in the palm of her hand. Ultimately, justice is sacrificed on the altar of wealth and power.

second agency gets involved and Danny is pressured into accepting conditions that put his dreams in jeopardy. Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't, Danny and his colleague/lover Trish prepare the mother of all presentations. Either way, Danny and Trish use every weapon at their disposal to dispatch the evil duo and rescue their pride, their relationship, and perhaps, their souls.

The Paranormal Project

Full-length horror
WGA registered

Logline:

Ego-tripping psychic Clifton Anzar and the crew of the Paranormal Project, a popular "Ghost Hunters"-like television show, encounter something far more menacing than cold spots or creaking floorboards when they make contact with a real but malevolent spirit. The ghost hunters quickly become the hunted. America's Most Haunted meets The Grudge.

Synopsis:

Floating orbs. Shadowy movements. Things that go bump in the night. This is the often-intriguing yet very inconclusive fare served up on cable shows such as
"America's Most Haunted" and "Ghost Hunters." The Paranormal Project is the genre's most popular show, led by world-renowned psychic Clifton Anzar, an arrogant, self-centered ham. The crew is offered the much sought after opportunity to film in Edgewood Mansion in an isolated area of Northern New York State. The legend is that a teenager named Ruth, who viciously murdered her family in the house 130 years earlier, haunts Edgewood Mansion. The Paranormal Project crew sets up and begins filming in the
mansion, but soon realizes they are facing something far more menacing than cold spots or creaking floorboards. Anzar's teenage daughter Joy starts channeling the murderous Ruth and the ghost hunters soon become the hunted. Wanting to set her soul free from the confines of the mansion, Ruth, through Joy, tries to lie her way to absolution, but Anzar, joined by his ex-wife who has come to the mansion after a premonition about her daughter's safety, trick Ruth into leaving Joy's body. In her anger, Ruth starts a fire in the mansion that quickly spreads. Everyone escapes alive, but the fire destroys the mansion. Worse yet, the camera used to film what would be the most dramatic footage ever taken of a supernatural event, was left in the burning building. The event brings a humbled Anzar and his ex-wife back together, and also unites Joy with a young member of the crew who tried valiantly to save her. However, Ruth's ghost remains tethered to what's left of the mansion, and she vows to never forgive or forget Clifton Anzar, who, we learn, plans to return to the ruins to search
for the missing camera.
